Chartered Accountants and Unemployment
“Its generally being said that CA is not an easy nut to crack.”
Well, its true also to a great extent. All those who are associated with CA profession will agree to this. This profession is avowed as the top most difficult professional course. Commerce is the most popular stream for students since its associated with all organisations. Whether its hospitals, schools, charitable organisations, business, NGO’s,etc., all function properly with the aid of accounts. Thus for students opting commerce stream, CA and MBA have become the most popular vocations.
The total strenght of Chartered Accountants through out the India constitutes to be approximately 1,70,000 only, and amongst them approx 70000 CA’s are there in their own practice. Thus, the remaining are working with some organisations.
We often hear that there is a great demand for CA’s in the market. CA is the only profession where members wont face the problem of unemployment, etc. number of attempts that a students take to get through in the examination hardly plays any role once you are an Chartered Accountant. But does these words really have a meaning in practical world.
When a student has not completed his vocation and not called as Chartered Accountant, employers say complete your CA and than grab better job opportunities. But, unfortunately once you are over with your CA there is no job opportunities for you. This happens because noone is ready to offer better pay csale to the candidates. Thus, either the candidates remain unemployed or are under-employed i.e., their efficiences are not utilised to the extent they should have been or in the right direction.
Therefore, the problem of unemployment exist for professionals like Chartered Accountants also. But the mournful thing is that no appropriate and opt action has been taken by managemnt to curb this problem. As a result, members are getting demotivated and are ready to work even in worst situation.
