My  friend wants to close a private limited company and till date he has filed the returns. Now, VAT officer is asking to pay the penallty as it was not paid monthly for last 3 months and extraa moneey for th months for which returns paid lately. Officer says thewe have not paid/filed returns corectly accroding to statement from bank, but from our ca we  are correct but he says he ishelpless and he(VAT oficer) will put a case on us. We are in loss of busness aand wants to close. So  ask teh CA comunity here, if we close the company now will it be a offence?? we have no loans to be paid to any banks??

YES,Kindly go to the vat officer and clear your matter cancelled your tin no. and take security amount back which was deposited by you at the time of registration.
