Centre will begin notifying much-awaited Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) norms as part of the new Companies Act in about a week's time. Corporate Affairs Minister Sachin Pilot told in an interview to PTI that his Ministry has finalised the CSR rules and have been sent to the Law Ministry for vetting. He said the rules are exhaustive and efforts have been made to include as much as possible, including health care and environment.
Replacing the nearly six-decade old regulations for corporates, the new Companies Act is expected to make it mandatory for certain class of profitable enterprises to spend money on social welfare activities. Such expenses are estimated to total about 15,000 to 20,000 crore rupees a year.
