The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) is expected to complete the empanelment process of Chartered Accountancy (CA) firms within the next two weeks, according to senior officials. These firms will be engaged in auditing the accounts of autonomous, local, and other entities for the period spanning July 2025 to March 2027.
Earlier, on May 27, the CAG issued a call for expressions of willingness from interested CA firms to conduct audits of financial records of autonomous bodies. The deadline for submission was June 5, and the final list of selected firms is now in its final stages of preparation.
The initiative aims to strengthen the CAG’s audit capabilities, especially considering its limited technical manpower to handle the extensive and specialized audit requirements across such institutions. The involvement of CA firms is expected to bridge this resource gap and enhance audit coverage.
