The country's exports went up by an impressive 37.55 per cent to 245.86 billion US Dollars during the last financial year 2010-11. An official press release said that demand for Indian merchandise increased not just in Western economies, but in new markets like Latin America and Africa as well. According to data released by the Commerce Ministry in New Delhi today the shipments of Indian merchandise increased by a huge 43.85 per cent in March this year to reach 29.1 billion US Dollars on the back of a smart recovery in the US and European markets.
Commerce Minister Anand Sharma will unveil a strategy paper tomorrow for raising India's exports to 450 billion US Dollars by 2013-14.
