The Supreme Court on Tuesday pulled up Mayawati government of the land acquisition policy of Uttar Pradesh, and driving out poor people from the state.
The Supreme Court ruled that the Uttar Pradesh government's land acquisition policy is anti-people and a sinister campaign.
The court also said that the state is driving out poor people for building malls.
"When people protest, men are arrested and women are raped," the court said, slamming the Uttar Pradesh government.
This has come at the time of Congress Geheral Secretary Rahul Gandhi's padyatra in the state against the land acquisition policy.
The Congress General Secretary was at Bhatta Parsaul village in Greater Noida on Tuesday, kicking off a four-day padyatra across UP villages.
The Congress has invited people from across the country to protest against Mayawati's land acquisition policy.
