ICAI Introduces Framework for Global Networking of Chartered Accountant Firms
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has formally issued a comprehensive framework governing global networking arrangements for chartered accountant firms. The new guidelines establish a structured pathway for Indian firms to associate and collaborate with international professional networks.
With this development, domestic CA firms will be able to expand their operational scale and strengthen their global presence through structured partnerships. The initiative is designed to support the growth of larger, competitive Indian accounting firms capable of operating at par with international counterparts.
As per the newly notified framework, global networks of chartered accountants—or equivalent professional bodies in other jurisdictions—will now fall under ICAI’s regulatory supervision with respect to their activities in India. This ensures that any international network seeking collaboration with Indian CA firms must comply with ICAI’s prescribed standards and obtain appropriate registration before commencing operations within the country.
The move aligns with broader policy efforts aimed at fostering strong, homegrown professional firms that can meet the demands of India’s expanding economy while competing effectively on a global scale. By introducing regulatory clarity and oversight, ICAI intends to promote transparency, accountability, and professional excellence in cross-border collaborations.
Through this gazette notification, the Institute has emphasized the need for an enabling and structured ecosystem that supports the development of professional networks in the chartered accountancy sector, while safeguarding regulatory compliance and ethical standards.
