There is a prima facie case against Nokia India on income-tax default to the tune of Rs 2,500 crore to Rs 3,000 crore, the Income-Tax Department concluded after its investigation at the company's Sriperumbudur factory.
The I-T department officials concluded their investigation after a 24-hour survey at the plant. The survey, which commenced on Tuesday morning, got over at 7.30 a.m., said an I-T official on condition of anonymity. "What we expected turned out to be right," he said.
Nokia India officials have been asked to report to the department office in the city on January 16 to clarify their views.
Since most of the officials are located in Gurgaon and with holidays approaching, the department has given time till next week for Nokia officials, the I-T department official said. (The Hindu)
