Check AIS and Form 26AS Before Filing ITR for AY 2026–27
The Income Tax Department has advised taxpayers to review their Annual Information Statement (AIS) and Form 26AS before filing their Income Tax Return (ITR) for Assessment Year 2026–27.
Taxpayers should verify the details of income, tax deducted at source (TDS), tax collected at source (TCS), advance tax, self-assessment tax and other reported financial transactions reflected in these statements. Cross-checking the information can help ensure accurate income reporting and reduce the possibility of discrepancies in the return.
If any information appears incorrect or incomplete, taxpayers should take the appropriate corrective steps before submitting their ITR. The department has also encouraged taxpayers to file through the official Income Tax e-Filing portal well before the applicable deadline to avoid last-minute technical issues and delays. CA Sansaar
