The sixth G20 Summit at cannes has taken on board the concerns raised by India to combat black money. Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh said the Canes Summit Communiqué has also endorsed India's call to ensure transparency in Banking sector, exchange of information to combat tax fraud and illicit flow of funds.
Speaking to the media at Cannes Dr. Singh said, it was an important part of India's agenda at the Cannes summit. Dr. Singh said the Mutual Assessment Process, (MAP) of the G20 has made significant progress in all important areas including financial regulation and banking transparency and in the functioning of agricultural and energy markets. He said the communiqué welcomed the international Organisation of Securities Commision recommendations for improving regulation and supervision of commodity markets to manage volatility in prices.
Dr. Singh said the G20 communiqué emphazises the importance of social inclusion, the establishment of social protection floors based on national policies and promotion of employment, especially among the youth. The Prime Minister said the emphases in the G20 Communiqué are fully in line with India's priorities.
The Summit also reviewed the position regarding the Doha Round of negotiation, which have not made progress. Dr. Singh said the G20 Summit has endorsed the importance of the Doha Round and the mandate of Doha development Agenda.
