GST Collections Rise Sharply in March, FY26 Up 8.3%
India’s Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections recorded a strong uptick in March, rising by 8.8% year-on-year to cross the ₹2 lakh crore mark. This marks a notable increase compared to the ₹1.83 lakh crore collected in March of the previous year, reflecting steady economic activity and improved tax compliance.
As per data released by the Finance Ministry, Central GST (CGST) collections for March stood at ₹40,549 crore, while State GST (SGST) contributed ₹53,268 crore. Additionally, Integrated GST (IGST) collections crossed ₹1 lakh crore, indicating robust inter-state trade and transactions.
On an annual basis, the overall GST revenue for the financial year 2025–26 reached approximately ₹22 lakh crore, registering a growth of 8.3% compared to around ₹20 lakh crore collected in FY25. The consistent rise in GST collections highlights strengthened revenue generation and a positive trend in the country’s fiscal performance.
