Income Tax Department Enables ITR-3 Online Filing and Excel Utility for AY 2026-27

The Income Tax Department has activated the online filing facility and Excel Utility for ITR-3 for Assessment Year (AY) 2026-27 on the official e-Filing portal. Taxpayers eligible to file ITR-3, including individuals and Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs) earning income from business or profession, can now begin preparing and submitting their income tax returns for the relevant assessment year.

According to the update, the ITR-3 Excel Utility (Version 1.0) has been released and made available for download on the portal. The corresponding schema files have also been published to facilitate return preparation and validation. Taxpayers can either use the online filing option or download the utility to prepare returns offline before uploading them through the e-Filing system.

The activation of the ITR-3 filing module marks another step in the rollout of income tax return forms for AY 2026-27 and provides eligible taxpayers with the necessary tools to complete their compliance requirements within the prescribed timelines.

Online filing and Excel Utility for ITR-3 for A.Y. 2026–27 is now enabled on the e-Filing portal.
