Withdrawal of ₹2000 Denomination Banknotes from circulation: Consolidation of instructions
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has issued a consolidated circular regarding the withdrawal of ₹2000 denomination banknotes from circulation. The RBI clarified that while ₹2000 notes were withdrawn from circulation under its Clean Note Policy in May 2023, they continue to remain legal tender. Individuals and entities can still exchange or deposit ₹2000 banknotes at the 19 designated RBI Issue Offices until further instructions are issued. The circular also consolidates all previous directions related to the withdrawal process.
