Whether TDS is required to be deducted on Inland Haulage charges or oncarriage charges and other similar charges paid by Importer to shipping lines (whether Foreign Shipping Lines or their agents in India). |

No, TDS is not required to be deducted. As per Section 194C, read with sections 172, 201(1) and 201(1A), of the Income-tax Act, 1961 And also the provisions of section 172 constitute a code in themselves with regard to the mode of levy and recovery of tax. Yes TDS is required to be deducted under Sec-195. |
