Please Help: service tax under reverse charge

suppose i have taken a service of an advocate and paid him Rs 5000 .
now due to changes made by finance act 2012 i am liable to get service tax registration and pay service tax to goverment even if total service tax to be paidin a year is very nominal like 500 or 1000 |

Dear Ashish, Yes as per the changes made in finance bill 2012, you are liable to pay the service tax even if your service doesn't exceed the 10 lakh limit because in reverse charge provisions the limit will not apply and you have to register even for a small amount like you have mentioned.

Clarifications and procedural notifications on new provisions proposed in budget are further expected. Let s hope some reasonable procedures for reverse charge will also flow, though you never know what the government expects. |
