PwC Launches External Review of Audit Work Linked to Corporate Travel
Global consulting and audit firm PwC has reportedly appointed an external law firm to conduct an independent review of its auditing work related to Corporate Travel Management (CTM), following concerns raised by an internal whistleblower.
According to reports, the insider alleged that PwC auditors may have overlooked several warning signs and accounting irregularities in the financial statements of the scandal-hit travel management company. The allegations have triggered increased scrutiny over the quality and effectiveness of the audit procedures carried out by the firm.
In response to the concerns, PwC has also initiated an internal investigation into the audit engagement. The move comes after shares of Corporate Travel Management were suspended last year amid ongoing controversies and market concerns regarding the company’s financial reporting practices.
The development highlights growing pressure on major audit firms to strengthen oversight, maintain audit independence, and ensure strict compliance with professional standards. Regulatory authorities and market participants globally have increasingly focused on auditor accountability following a series of high-profile corporate governance failures.
The outcome of the external review and internal probe is expected to determine whether audit procedures were adequately performed and whether any corrective actions or governance improvements may be required.
