Over 3 Crore ITRs Filed for AY 2026–27; Taxpayers Advised to File Before July 31 Deadline
More than 3 crore Income Tax Returns (ITRs) have already been filed for Assessment Year 2026–27, according to an update shared by the Income Tax Department. The department also reported that over 15 lakh returns were submitted in a single day, indicating a significant rise in filing activity as the statutory deadline approaches.
Taxpayers eligible to file ITR-1 or ITR-2 have been advised to complete the filing process before July 31, 2026, to avoid last-minute congestion on the income tax e-filing portal. Individuals should ensure that income details, deductions, tax payments, Form 26AS and Annual Information Statement (AIS) data are carefully reviewed before submitting their returns.
Eligible taxpayers can file their returns through the official Income Tax Department e-filing portal at incometax.gov.in CA Sansaar
