Over 1.7 Crore Taxpayers File Income Tax Returns Before Deadline

More than 1.7 crore taxpayers have filed their Income Tax Returns for Assessment Year 2026–27, reflecting steady progress in the ongoing return-filing process. According to the update, over 10 lakh ITRs were filed in a single day. Taxpayers eligible to file ITR-1 and ITR-2 have been advised to complete the process at the earliest and avoid last-minute portal traffic. The deadline for filing returns is 31 July 2026. Returns can be submitted through the official Income Tax e-filing portal at incometax.gov.in.
