Delhi MCA Student Held for Alleged Role in Cyber Fraud APK Network
The West cyber police have arrested a 28-year-old Delhi-based student, Sajid Ali, for his alleged involvement in developing APK (Android Package Kit) files linked to multiple cyber fraud operations.
According to police officials, Sajid, who is currently pursuing a Master’s in Computer Applications (MCA), allegedly created malicious APK files that were later used in several online fraud activities. During the investigation, authorities recovered nearly 257 APK files from electronic devices seized from previously arrested suspects.
Police sources stated that Sajid had allegedly designed over 100 APK files and sold them to other accused individuals involved in cybercrime networks. Investigators examining his laptop reportedly found data connected to nearly 3,000 complaints registered on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCCRP). The total financial fraud linked to these complaints is estimated to be around Rs 42 crore.
Officials further revealed that the accused are connected to nearly 60 FIRs registered across Mumbai.
Earlier in April, a police team led by senior inspector Suvarna Shinde, API Nitin Gacche, and sub-inspector Vijay Ghorpade had arrested three other suspects identified as Arif Ansari (28), Mehboob Alam (26), and Bilal Shaikh (28). All three belong to Giridih district of Jharkhand. Police said Ansari had studied up to Class 10 and previously worked at a restaurant, while Alam and Shaikh had discontinued their education after Class 8.
