The shares began trading on the BSE at ₹610, reflecting a listing gain of ₹36, or 6.27%. Following the market debut, SBI Funds Management’s market capitalisation was reported at approximately ₹1.25 lakh crore.
The IPO received substantial investor participation and was subscribed nearly 42 times overall. The response indicated significant institutional and broader market interest in the asset management company.
Speaking at the listing ceremony, SBI Chairman Challa Sreenivasulu Setty described the development as an important milestone in SBI Funds Management’s institutional journey. He highlighted governance standards, risk-management practices, investment performance, product innovation and an extensive distribution network as factors supporting the company’s leadership position in the Indian asset management sector.
The chairman also referred to the expansion of India’s mutual fund industry, noting that its assets under management have increased from approximately ₹6,700 crore in 1988 to more than ₹80 lakh crore. SBI Funds Management currently manages nearly 15% of the industry’s assets.
According to the chairman, the scale of the IPO and the level of investor participation demonstrate confidence in India’s capital markets and financial institutions. The listing also reinforced the growing role of mutual funds in mobilising household savings and directing capital towards long-term investments. CA Sansaar
