UIDAI Enables Free Aadhaar Email Update Through Mobile App
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced a new facility allowing Aadhaar holders to add or update their email ID directly through the Aadhaar App. The service has been launched to improve convenience for residents and reduce the need to visit Aadhaar centres for email-related updates.
According to the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, the free email update facility is available through the Aadhaar App from July 1, 2026, and will remain free for six months. Residents can use the service by downloading or updating the Aadhaar App on Android or iOS devices.
The new feature has received a strong initial response, with more than 2.5 lakh users updating their email IDs within two days of its launch. UIDAI stated that linking an email ID with Aadhaar helps residents receive real-time alerts whenever Aadhaar authentication is carried out, improving transparency and user awareness.
The Aadhaar App is also being used for other Aadhaar-related services, including mobile number updates and address changes. As per the available information, over 40 million residents have updated their mobile numbers through the app, while nearly one million users have updated their address details using the platform.
UIDAI has advised Aadhaar holders to make use of the email update facility and keep their Aadhaar details updated through the official Aadhaar App. CA Sansaar
