Income Tax Department Urges Taxpayers to Review AIS Before Filing ITR

The Income Tax Department has advised taxpayers to review and reconcile their Annual Information Statement (AIS) before filing Income Tax Returns for Assessment Year 2026–27. The AIS provides a consolidated overview of financial transactions, including bank interest, dividends and other high-value transactions reported against a taxpayer’s PAN.

According to the department, more than five crore taxpayers have already accessed their AIS. Taxpayers should log in to the Income Tax e-filing portal, verify the information displayed and submit online feedback if they find any incorrect or mismatched entry. Completing this verification can help ensure accurate filing of ITR-1 and ITR-2 before the stated deadline of 31 July 2026. CA Sansaar
