Government Revises SAED Rates on Petrol and Diesel Exports from 16 July 2026

Notification No. 38/2026-Central Excise

New Delhi, the 15th July, 2026

The Ministry of Finance has issued Notification No. 38/2026–Central Excise, dated 15 July 2026, revising the rates of Special Additional Excise Duty (SAED) applicable to exports of petrol and high-speed diesel.

Under the amended rates, the SAED on motor spirit (petrol) has been prescribed at ₹2.50 per litre, while the duty on high-speed diesel has been fixed at ₹15.50 per litre.

The notification further amends Notification No. 06/2026–Central Excise dated 26 March 2026 and has come into effect from 16 July 2026. The amendment has been issued under Section 5A of the Central Excise Act, 1944, read with Section 147 of the Finance Act, 2002.
