As answered by lavina...accounting equation in its simplest form is Assets-Liabilities= shareholders/owner's fund/capital. which if analysed and observed and expanded can be rewritten as:
Assets = Liabilities + Stockholders' Equity Assets = Liabilities + Common Stock + Retained Earnings Assets = Liabilities + Common Stock + Net Income - Dividends Assets = Liabilities + Common Stock + Income - Expenses - Dividends
