what is a time period after which a cheque becomes a stale cheque?To the best of my knowledge it is 6 months,is their any amendment that it has been changed to 3 months now?

The validity of cheque is now three (3) months.

The provision for reduce this period of 6 months to 3 months is applicable from 1st april 2012 only. . To make it more clear. . I cheque written in december will be cleared till 31 march 2012 but will be treated as stale from 1st april 2012
