04-Feb-2015 , 12:18:56 pmAs per income tax rules, nil eTDS statement is not mandatory, but the department will not able to find out the difference between the following two types of deductors. Deductors required to file return but not filed. Deductors not required to file return. Hence, A new facility has been started in TDSCPC website to update declaration for non filing of TDS statement for deductors. Deductors can update status of TDS/TCS statement to non-filing online after login at TDSCPC website. The benefit of this facility is that instead of filing nil TDS/TCS return for a particular quarter/period, one just need to update the status to non filing of return. After updation of status, TDSCPC website server will not sent any notice for non filing of TDS return.

06-Feb-2015 , 10:37:35 amYes, you have to file TDS return if you have made payments to transporter with their Pan No., However if you do not have any liability of TDS Payment including payments to Transporter you are not required to file TDS return but just a declaration of NIL Data. (Reason for the same is department may get idea whom to issue notice and whom to not, if you have filed nil declaration they will not issue any notice for non filing else they will issue notice for non filing and default will be generated in name of your client.

19-Feb-2015 , 10:01:21 pmpractically you should file the NIL return and in case of transporter you need to file the NIL return as liability of filing return arises even if the amount is nil due to exception.
