Dear manoj, there is no fixed format for project report.Firstly you start with the financials of the company like initial capital introduced , loan raised and assets purchased . . Then prepare the projected profit and loss account and balance sheet. Formats for such financials are available on internet.

Only keep in mind that current ratios and Debt equity ratio are within standard limits and loan repayments and cash flows are reasonable.

Correctly answered by Mr.Rishabh..what u need to do is sit wid ur client and go step by step like..total funds that would be required for that project..for that how much is invested through own funds and how much would be borrowed..then how these funds would be invested...i.e, Land, building, plant & Machinery and so on...then gather all the cost revenue data from ur client of the first year and then make a projection for rest of the years ( as mostly project report is made for 5 years ) based on the reasonable increase in the revenue and costs depending upon the trend in this particular industry and estimations of ur client.
So basically just put urself in the shoes of ur client and think what all will be required to start that project, how much costs would be incurred and revenues that will be earned. Gather all this information from ur client. Once u have actual figures with you ( based on ur clients estimates ) then just work on them...Keeping in mind several ratios which should be shown favourable in the report.( As pointed out by Mr. Rishabh.) Favourable ratios are very important otherwise whole project report will become a waste.

To start a project, detailed analysis as suggested by Priyanka is a necessary and it is the first path towards Project preparation. While writing a project the start should be with detailed description of On-going project along with Projects handled in past. Pictorial presentation of Projects handled by clients would be an added advantage. The projection of Financila data should be in Lacs and the period of projection depends on the type of Project made. Also to include various statutory requirements required/acquired for the project & also creditworthiness of the client in the market.
