Q. > Please Help: VAT After Closing the Private limited company
My friend wants to close a private limites compaany and till date he has paid returns and now vat officer is asking to pay penallty returns and extra for the months for which returns are already filed. officer says that we have not filed returns correctly and he wil lput a case on us.. We are in loss of business and wants to close. So i ask the CA community here.. If we close the company now will it be a offence?? we have no loans to be paid to any banks?

I dont think closing the company would help. If you have records and proofs that you have submitted the retuens on time and appropriately then I dont think that the officer can prove you guilty.
