Q. > Please Help: VAT ON FREIGHT
In case of Purchase some vendors charges VAT on the total Value of Material + Freight + Loading Unloading Charges = Total Value of Material + VAT......
Can Vendor cahrge the VAT on freight amount ??? On Loanding Unloading Charges????. Under which rule, section of VAT it has mentioned that the VAT is chargeable on freight / loading unloading charges.

Yes, freight is chargeable on gross amount i.e. freight+ charges+ material also be considered for calculation

10-Jun-2011 , 11:38:09 amHello..........If freight/Loading/unloading amount is sepreately mentioned in invoice than vendor shall charge VAT only on the value of the goods not on the entire amount.

14-Jun-2011 , 02:35:44 amin my opinion vendor can not charged vat on freight loading unloading charged vat to be charged only on the value of material purchased but if charged then all these expenses alongwith value of material will be cost of materilas purchased and will be booked accordingly these expenditure will not be accounted seperately in books
